Get Moving! It’s really just that simple
As I’m sitting in my office looking out that window at the snow falling and the squirrel perched up on the tree eating nuts, I think about how easy it would be to just stay in my pajamas and sip my hot coffee and just work on the computer all day. A luxury I might add that I could have since I work out of the house. It’s cold out and grey out and very uninviting.
I know I’ve said it before. But the truth is sometimes it just takes getting up and putting on some music. For those or you that are stuck in the house in the winter months like I am or just don’t make it to the gym as often as you like. Put on some music and just get your body moving.
If you’re like me your playlist is pretty diverse. I have everything from Eminem to Carrie Underwood to Bon Jovi or Rhianna. Whatever it is that gets me moving and keeps me motivated. If I’m at home I can just crank the tunes up and the whole house becomes my playground. I might bounce around or just drop and do some pushups! Then as I am heading to the laundry room I find myself doing some walking lunges. As long as you’re moving, it’s all good.
Sometimes I’m just a big dork and dance around the house as if nobody’s watching. Oh wait, nobody is watching. So get up and do something to get your heart rate going. You’ll be amazed at how good you feel and eventually it just becomes a habit, a way of life. Just like brushing your teeth every day. Moving your body is one of the best things you can do for you!!
And if you’re a person that likes numbers and needs to see the results, then I suggest you get a Polar Heart rate monitor. I really don’t get Christmas presents anymore, but the one thing I did get this year was the Polar heart rate monitor. Probably the only thing I would have wanted so I have to say I was very, very happy. I didn’t have any idea of what it really did other than track my heart rate during my workout as well as at rest. Come to find out it also tells me my calories burned for the workout or the day.
Now go ahead, put some music on and get moving!! It does a body good.
