Food does not have to be boring!

Posted by in Food, Fun, Health

I have said it before and I’ll say it again. You can really eat Healthy and have it tasty and fun. Everyone for some reason is under the assumption that healthy has to be boring. Well after years of cooking almost every meal at home and experimenting with many different flavors and trying many different things, I have found some really great flavorful healthy options. So with today’s blog I am going to make it short and sweet and put on one of my all-time favorite recipes that is easy…read more

I Love Food!

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Health

Yes I have always been a lover of food. Or as my Dad used to say I was a “good eater”. What that really meant was I could eat like a man. I would go head to head with anyone at any time and be able to eat as much as they could. Mind you I thought that was okay and normal. And well it was until I was in my later 30’s and all of a sudden I was getting a little muffin. Not really a muffin top but…read more

Wine or Candy?

Posted by in Food, Fun, Health

Well after celebrating the Halloween holiday with a few too many treats I started thinking about the sugars that are in those treats. After doing some investigation (I really should have been an investigator) I found that the 15 most popular candy bars contain 21 grams of sugar each. And an average Halloween bag adds up to 1200 calories, 177 grams of sugar and 32 grams of fat. Now that’s some serious sugar. And we all know that sugar turns into fat. And NOT our healthy fats.  Then I started…read more

Do you like Halloween?

Posted by in Food, Fun

I find it appropriate to be writing about Halloween today. And for those of you that don’t know me, it is my absolute FAVORITE day of the year. I love the idea of dressing up and being whoever you want to be. It’s a day you can be silly, creepy, sexy, smart, scary, or just about whatever or whoever you want to be and have fun with it.  I enjoy the whole process from getting made up and putting on a costume to handing out candy to the kiddies and…read more

This is a Lifestyle – NOT a diet

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Health, Motivation

Over the years I have been hearing people say “what crazy diet are you on now” or “you are always on some kind of diet”. Well let me set the record straight. I have never been and will never be on any kind of diet. In fact I probably eat more than the average person. My husband used to always comment that we did not need to share everything exactly because he weighed 210 and I weighed 115. Well why not?? I always thought it should be fair and I…read more

Is Grass Fed beef really healthier for you?

Posted by in Food, Health

As I was on my way to my nieces wedding this weekend in South Dakota (congrats Emily!) I was flying over farm after farm and then driving past farm after farm and then it struck me when I saw some cows just grazing and enjoying the bright sunny day. I said to my husband as we passed by “now there’s some grass fed beef”. Yes I said it. And there they were in all of their glory. Grazing on grass as god put them on this earth to do.  Then…read more

Are ABS really made in the kitchen?

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Motivation

Well if you ask me I would say “ABsolutely”. It’s funny because that is an expression used often. “Abs are made in the kitchen”. NOT in the gym.  Now I am not saying your time spent in the gym is not important or necessary for your overall training to reach your potential or get the physique you are striving for. The truth is we all have abs (abdominal muscles). They are just hidden sometimes underneath that layer of stuff we like to call fat. Clean eating is the only way…read more

What do I want to be when I grow up?

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Motivation

Funny that at the age of 53 I am finally starting to get an idea of what that might be. Or maybe I’m just telling myself that. Call me a later bloomer, but it is what it is. After being in the corporate world for over 30 years and counting I have started on a new path that has been a long time coming. My dad always used to say to me, “you should be a doctor or you should be a lawyer”. I would laugh and think to myself,…read more
