Being Fit Over 50

No Resolutions for 2014 – Just Solutions!

Posted by in Fitness, Happiness, Harmony, Health, Motivation

With 2014 upon us and everyone always making resolutions, I find myself asking the same question. Do I need a resolution? It seems most people fail when they make a resolution and then they feel bad and guilty that they did not fulfill the resolution. So for 2014 I am going for solutions. Solutions to the ailments I am having from being over 50. Solutions to the way I will treat people whether they are nice to me or not. Solutions to make my life richer (not in the materialistic…read more

What are friends for?

Posted by in Fun, Happiness, Health, Love, Motivation

For me my friends are my life lines. They are my sisters from another mother. They are the ones I can count on when times get tough. They are my go to people when I need answers. They make me laugh, they make me cry. Friends are simply something I cannot live without. Each and every one of my friends holds a very special place in my heart in a very unique way. No two are alike and that is what makes each one of them so special. I left…read more

Is Divorce ever done right?

Posted by in Happiness, Love, Motivation

With Thanksgiving right around the corner I’d like to touch on a few things I am very thankful for. I am thankful to be blessed with a great family. My family meaning my immediate family. My husband, my son, my daughter and my ex-husband. Yes I said my ex-husband. They are the four most important people in my life and who I would give my life for. Now what I mean is if they ever needed anything from me and I could help, I would. No questions asked. Now some of you…read more

This is a Lifestyle – NOT a diet

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Health, Motivation

Over the years I have been hearing people say “what crazy diet are you on now” or “you are always on some kind of diet”. Well let me set the record straight. I have never been and will never be on any kind of diet. In fact I probably eat more than the average person. My husband used to always comment that we did not need to share everything exactly because he weighed 210 and I weighed 115. Well why not?? I always thought it should be fair and I…read more

Are ABS really made in the kitchen?

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Motivation

Well if you ask me I would say “ABsolutely”. It’s funny because that is an expression used often. “Abs are made in the kitchen”. NOT in the gym.  Now I am not saying your time spent in the gym is not important or necessary for your overall training to reach your potential or get the physique you are striving for. The truth is we all have abs (abdominal muscles). They are just hidden sometimes underneath that layer of stuff we like to call fat. Clean eating is the only way…read more

Stretching – is it overrated?

Posted by in Fitness, Motivation

That has always been a question I have pondered. Most of the time when I would get to the gym I was on a time frame and had to get my workout done. I would go directly to the weight racks and start lifting. Of course I always was pretty strong so I would grab the biggest bad boy weights I could just to impress myself or anyone that might be watching. I was not going to be the weak girl in the gym.  Mind you this was back in…read more

So much to be Grateful for…

Posted by in Fitness, Motivation

One thing I am learning with blogging is I am able to reflect back to a simpler time in my life when things were not so hectic and fast paced.  My Mother was a perfect of example. She never ever drove a car. Yup that’s right!! She rode her bike all over town and to work or walked to anywhere she needed to go. She never had a washer and dryer. She would load up our clothes in a clothes basket and put them in a wagon and wheel them…read more

What do I want to be when I grow up?

Posted by in Fitness, Food, Motivation

Funny that at the age of 53 I am finally starting to get an idea of what that might be. Or maybe I’m just telling myself that. Call me a later bloomer, but it is what it is. After being in the corporate world for over 30 years and counting I have started on a new path that has been a long time coming. My dad always used to say to me, “you should be a doctor or you should be a lawyer”. I would laugh and think to myself,…read more
